Think Inside The Skin
Want to know what makes MountainKing® Butter
Reds® so special?
It's all inside. Unlike traditional red potatoes that offer
color only, the rich yellow flesh of a Butter
Red® contains
a delicious flavor that's described by consumers as "richer
in texture", "creamier", and "more moist" than
any other red potato on the market. As versatile as they are
good, new MountainKing® Butter
Reds® are perfect for
salads and casseroles,
as well as for baking or grilling. So butter up your
family with the great new taste of MountainKing® Butter
Red® potatoes. And remember, the real
beauty is in the flavor!
Cooking Butter Red Potatoes
Butter Red® Potatoes are
waxy or dense in texture allowing them to hold up much better
to higher cooking temperatures like boiling, roasting and grilling. Butter
Red® Potatoes are excellent in stews, potato salads,
roasted with fresh herbs and grilled. We do not recommend using Butter
Red® Potatoes for mashing because of their dense texture.
Instead, use a Butter
Gold potato to mash.

Nutritional Facts
MountainKing® Butter Red Potatoes are high in beta carotene.
That's where they get their rich yellow internal flesh color. Beta Carotene is
a common phytochemical within a group of over 600 called carotenoids. It is found
in bright orange-colored fruits and vegetables such as carrots, pumpkins, peaches,
yukon gold potatoes, butter red potatoes and sweet potatoes. In the body, beta-carotene
is converted to vitamin A, which has many vital functions including the growth
and repair of body tissues, formation of bones and teeth, resistance of the body
to infection, and development of healthy eye tissues. Whereas vitamin A supplements
can be toxic, excess beta-carotene is safely stored away and converted to vitamin
A
only when the body needs it. |
